Our Campaigns

Throughout our twelve-year history, we’ve leveraged our unique position as students at increasingly privatized and corporatized universities in solidarity with workers on our campuses and workers who sew our collegiate apparel.

CCSC/Campus Worker Solidarity Campaigns

Our administrations are taking advantage of the current economic crisis to break unions, raise tuition fees, cut student services and resources for marginalized students and crush political dissent — all in the name of budget cuts. But at the same time, they are giving pay raises to a select crew of administrators and pouring resources into new construction projects and “profit-making” departments. As colleges and universities rapidly buy into failed business models that attack working people,  students and workers are forming viable and strategic coalitions to win union organizing drives and improved contracts, fight against furloughs and layoffs, and to demand that our schools prioritize quality education over increased profits. We demand that our colleges and universities prioritize the needs of the larger community over inflated administrator salaries and their pet projects. Our schools, our budget!

ISC/Garment Worker Solidarity Campaigns

Fresh off the most significant victory in the history of our movement, USAS’s ability to leverage college and university apparel contracts in support of factory workers throughout the world is greater than ever. Yet there is still a ton of work to be done. Where any progress has been made to end abuses in garment factories, students have been at the forefront, so we know how important our work is going forward. USAS has been demanding that our schools sign onto the Designated Suppliers Program, which will keep apparel companies like Russell Athletic and Nike from cutting and running in the first place. Let’s make this a reality!
