To all USASers and prospective USASers:

Sign up to become an individual member at the link on the bottom of this website! I signed up, and now I'm an official member, making dues contributions of $15 per month. This is really important for all USASers to become dues paying members so we can build sustainability and ownership over our awesome/victorious/unstoppable student movement!

I am a Brazilian journalist and author of “Luta Internacional”, a blog about worker's actions and struggles around the world. I read the news of the victory over Russell in LabourStart website, and translated into Portuguese two articles about your campaign (http://mundodostrabalhadores.blogspot.com/2009/11/estudantes-dos-eua-forcam-empresa.html), through which workers and students develops new ways to combat exploitation, united above the borders. Good Job!

Greetings of a internationalist worker

[...] We first want to congratulate our friends at United Students Against Sweatshops for their victory against Russell Athletics! Russell Athletics which closed their factory in Honduras after workers there tried to for a union nearly one year ago. Students at 96 universities persuaded their schools to suspend or sever ties with Russell Athletic, a major supplier of college logo t-shirts and sweatshirts. This week, Russell announced that they plan to re-open the factory and re-hire all 1200 workers. More details about the campaign here. [...]

Last Spring I participated in a series of events at the University of Oregon as part of the "Rein in Russell" Campaign. Sponsored by USAS, I listened to a woman who had worked in the Jerseez factory describe the situation there. This is a victory for the workers, first and foremost, but it is a victory for all souls who believe in building worker power across the globe. Thank you USAS for putting your resources into this campaign and good luck to our brothers and sisters in Honduras. Solidarity forever.
